Sailor Jerry Spiced Navy Rum

This drink has revolutionized autumn, this autumn in particular with its lack of dramatic colors. It's simple. It's delicious. It's even local (partly).

People often say a pumpkin-spiced latte is what they consider the taste of fall; the fall drink. The funny thing is, they're wrong.

It's actually a mug of hot cider and rum. Yes, you read that right. Two ingredients. Spiced rum. Cider.

Sure, it sounds easy, but don't take those two things lightly. The wrong kind of rum and/or the wrong kind of cider will throw everything off and you won't taste the right experience.

The recommended cider, the very necessary cider is from Minnesota Harvest Orchard.

Don't mess this up. You cannot use regular rum, you must use spiced rum. It's gross otherwise. Sailor Jerry's spiced rum is a favorite and is 92 proof, rather than the usual 80 proof.

The drink tastes fine if served cold, but comes highly recommended as a hot drink. It's the perfect drink to cuddle up next to a fire with a book or puzzle and some nice folksy music.
